Referee Training and Certification Program Overview
The Saskatchewan Team Handball Referees Association's (STHRA) Referee Training & Certification Program (RTCP) is a province wide standardized program. Objectives of the program are to educate the referees about the Rules of the Game, the correct interpretation of those rules and to increase the quality and professionalism of all referees.Level 1:
- no experience required
- a passing mark of at least 50% on written exam
- minimum attendance of one referee training course per year
- will be paid the following: $18.00/game at junior/senior level, $15.00/game at youth level
Level 2:
- minimum of 2 years at Level 1
- a passing mark of at least 65% on written exam
- minimum attendance of one referee training course per year
- will be paid the following: $22.00/game at junior/senior level, $18.00/game at youth level
- minimum of 1 year at Level 2
- a passing mark of at least 80% on written exam
- minimum attendance of one referee training course per year
- will be paid the following amounts: $25.00/game at junior/senior level, $22.00/game at youth level
*If you do not meet the pre-requisites for a category you will drop down to the lower category until pre-requisites are acheived.
All referees must wear the following during every game:
- STHRA referee jersey or any other approved referee jersey
- pair of referee shorts (must closely match partners shorts, plain black shorts are recommended)
- STHRA referee patch
STHRA jerseys are available from the STHF office, they come in yellow, orange and black, $35.00/each.
